* About: So the HFNETCHK.EXE tool was released by Microsoft. I thought
that was pretty cool. Finally a tool that would help people secure their
systems quickly and easily. So I downloaded and began to play with the tool.
Neat, but how was I going to show my mother how to use this tool. She
doesn't even know what a command prompt is. Then I read a bit further and
realized that Microsoft didn't develop this tool, a company by the name of
Shavlik Technologies, LLC did. So after taking a look at their web page it
occured to me that Shavlik was SELLING the GUI version of this tool for their
own profit!! WHAT! And they are chargin $350.00 for 1-10 computers.
OH HELL NO! So my mother still can't fix her own machine easily. So here
it is.. my version of a GUI front end to their .exe file. That will be
released FREE and with sourcecode!
* Installation Notes:
Unzip all files into a single directory on your machine (anywhere). Run HFNCFE.EXE and click Execute!
CURRENT Version: HFNCFE332V2.1.0R. This will be the last development version unless someone contacts me and wishes to take over the project. Project development ceased 11/27/2002.
